Carbachol-induced oscillations in [Ca2+]i
Carbachol-induced oscillations in [Ca2+]i
in a single contracted guinea-pig ilium
myocyte.They are visualised by x-y confocal
imaging of fluo-3 fluorescence. The fluorescence
images were acquired 0.5 sec. apart. Carbachol (3
mM) was applied to the cell after the 19th image
was captured. Note the spatial non-uniformities in
the [Ca2+]i rise during each oscillation and that
localised [Ca2+]i transients (calcium sparks) are
seen before carbachol application.
